Prior to this class, I thought of Interdsicplinary Studies as a major where you can can learn about different field of studies without necessarily combining them together. In my understanding, choosing this major meant that I would have three diffeent majors/diploma and would be able to work in any related fields. As the semester went on, I realized that Interdisipninary Studies is about integrating your area of studies to make it your own unique major. It showed me how to view things differently in the sense that several issues in this world can be viewed by various perspectives and each one of those field has a solution for it. However, the fact that solutions to interdisciplinary problems need to integrate all relevant fields and does not have a dominant discipline makes it even more appealing. It takes into account all opinions without denigrating another. A scenario I could anticipate for applying what I have learned would be to implement environmental studies and my knowledge of psychology to create a unique school. The school would be an ecological one both in its structure (contruction) and its curriculum. The students would have environmental studies as a discipline and can choose in what area they wish to specify in or learned about. The establishment would also be considerate of each student's mental state as well as having various teaching and learning methods for different children. My goal would be to have a school that take into account every possibility for a child to learn in a loving, understanding environment.
